AUDITION PREP INFO
You will receive an audition notice no later than November 9.
PLAY SYNOPSIS: Disney Channel’s smash hit movie musical comes to life in this year’s production of Disney’s High School Musical JR. The students of East High (including Jocks, Cheerleaders, Brainiacs and Skaters) must deal with issues of love, friends, cliques and family while balancing their classes and extra-curricular activities. The show’s infectious, danceable songs are going to keep us on our feet and have audiences dancing in the aisles!
ACTING: You will do cold readings at auditions, but you can familiarize yourself with the show by watching multiple videos on YouTube to prepare you for the edited version of the show. They will be of varying qualities, but we can assure you our production will be Rockin’! Of course you can also watch the Disney movie and start learning the songs.
SINGING: If you want to sing solo, please prepare 30-45 seconds of one of the below songs – we need to hear range!
Girls, prepare a bit from: “Start of Something New.” “What I’ve Been looking for (or Reprise),” “Bop to the Top,” or “Stick to the Status quo” (pick a section)
Boys, prepare a bit from: “Start of Something New,” “Stick to the Status quo (pick a section),”What I’ve Been Looking For,” or “Breaking Free”
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Ensemble is a MAJOR part of the show – they are heavily featured and will be challenged, so there really are NO SMALL PARTS. This show would not be successful without a strong ensemble. We want to see positive attitude and teamwork from all. Parents, please help us with reminding your children they can shine in ANY part – it is up to them. #lifelessons
